It is good to see such composure in a recently licensed lawyer.

I heard about that. You're so right. If Mr. Galvan expected to rattle Ms. Hernandez, he is not the kind of person I would like to see on the court.

And why has no one mentioned that Galvan is currently working for Watts?

Those guys are low very low!!!

Angelica, as I witness her and observe more and more she is gaining the respect of some of the more important people. The young lady has alot of class. By the way the Barrios mixer was meant to honor it's own founder let' savor the moment also Bobby Galvan, What goes around comes around...Try this you can catch more flies with honey not vinegar...There is nothing worst than using low down dirty tactics and messing around with a womans personal life!!!
Shame, Shame we all know your name

Bobby Galvan,..... did he slip in from the same place where John Hubert's sis conducts prosecution in the unsavory manner?

Isnt that where Two Fer slithered in from as well?

Angelica????

She is proving to be a fighter and her prowess is definitely coming out.

WATT specifically is the relationship with MIKAL and Galvan?

I worry, can Angelica beat James Sales in November?

I think she can beat Galvan easily, but with Sales experience as a prosecutor against her small experience and with the newspaper calling the federal judge to ask about the judge's complaint against her, I worry James Sales will beat her.

I hope not.

I believe both are competent.

My goal is to put competent candidates up for the community to choose.

Also to bring out the voters.

I am not pro Democrat nor am I pro Republican.

I am pro choice.

I will fight for the person. If the Dems have good people I will promote them. Same thing for the Reps.

I will not support a rep or dem agenda and I will not support a candidate who is gunho for either party agenda. That sh/t is over. That sh/t is going to change.

I tend to agree that we should be electing the best candidates without much consideration of party affiliation, but I have to wonder why a candidate would become affiliated with a party that is in favor of spying on American citizens' phone calls and emails and which would drive us into deep debt while giving tax cuts to the very richest and building bridges to nowhere in Alaska while New Orleans remains unrepaired.

If it is true that Rose changed parties only because Judge Hinojosa tried to change the law of Texas to cheat her husband out of a case and, when the rest of the court would not go along, Judge Hinojosa decided to sit on the case until the end of time without ruling on it, that is a motive which would answer some questions for me. But as far as joining up with the Republican party at this time with all the front-page scandals of stealing money from the American Indian tribes, I don't understand that unless there is a motive like Rose's.

WATT case?

Did you see something that I wrote about something or WATT?

This became a Mike Hatchell Texas Supreme Court Case.

Jurisdiction of Statutory Probate Court and venue if my memory serves me correct?

Now on to the eavesdropping.

WIA / Byrne Grant / Cisneros ? COPS program TEC>>>>> TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION.

REMEMBER IN kINGSVILLE?

The new Sherriff / County Jail was built and the new communications devices they acquired? Remember the spat between the Sherriff and the Police Department? The Sherriff had the capability to listen to up to 100~150 phone conversations. Then the KPD built their new building next to the sherriff and worked out a deal allowing the KPD access to the equiptment and then KPD eventually acquired their own?

Before 911 this equiptment was used to exact personal vendettas and to smear political opponents. Remember Sam Granato, Fil Esquivel and the Black Copters? The ones with the playboy insignia? Some type of laser communications equiptment associated with the Delta Force or WATT EVER their name was. Scared the sh/t out of my neighborhood.

Remember all of the agencies that popped up? The agencies like the COPS program was supposed to be for the schools but they sure did interdict a lot and never wanted to work the accidents. There are records that indicate this.

Figueroa and Lee Coleman.

Sam Garcia and Romeo Lomas missappropriating and then borrowing from peter to pay paul back the missappropriated money. Peter never got paid back. Do we really need to rehash that crap?

It all started when Clinton was president.

Abramoff started when and official in the Clinton admin of Head Indian Affairs of Govt Agency (WHITEHOUSE) made a move allowing extinct indian tribes to become existent all they had to do was "find an indian" and they could build a casino. Well they found an unemployed welder.

Since then ARAMOFF has permeated both sides with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

It is easier to name the ones who are not involved (of the elected DEMS and REPS).

A South Texas Republican is a far different species than its National Counterpart as is a South Texas Democrat. The Valley needs to realize we helped them elect Chuey and I myself have defended him. Work with me? Quit trying to divide and pull power to the SOUTH.

I first read about this issue on Rio Grande Valley Politics:

In Corpus Christi there saying Vela flipped parties because Hinojosa tried to change to law to stiff her husband on a case, and that when the rest of the court wouldn't go along with that, Hinojosa decided to just sit on the case and so it's been sitting on a shelf for 5 or 6 years.

Link

I thought this was the only reason which I had heard that would explain why Rose would run as a Republican against Hinojosa.

I asked a lawyer friend of mine if he would mind looking into this rumor. At first he was skeptical. But then he called me back in about 20 minutes and said it all checked out. I don’t remember the name of the case, but he said it was easy to find on an internet legal research site. He said that if you search for “opinion by Justice Hinojosa” with Filemon B. Vela as the attorney you come right to the case.

In this case, the other judge who was assisting on the case accused Hinojosa of trying to turn the law on its head. Because the two judges disagreed, the case went back to Hinojosa and it’s true that Hinojosa has been sitting on the case for years and years.

If you have access to an internet legal research site and you find the opinion, will you post more details here?

While Sales may have more years of experience, the docket in the courts is a much smaller percent of criminal (25-30%) than civil (70-75%). Civil experience is very important. She has represented so many counties, cities and law enforcement departments it is amazing. Also, she was a partner in her law firm and so she knows how to manage a business, budget and personnel. If you can't tell, I do know her. I don't go to her home or anything, but I know her and I've read about her (her resume). She has done family law, contracts, business, wrongful death, civil rights, ADA, school law, fraud, etc. She actually handles the cases, she isn't just show. James is a good man, but he can't match her experience in the variety of cases that she has handled. He is strictly criminal, and she has done a variety. She has also practiced in federal court, and he hasn't. That experience will definately help her. When she first spoke, and I was there, she said that this race would be about quality, not quantity. She is quality. Nothing bad to say about James, but the people love Angelica and I have seen her sincerty with them. Even some of the hard core Republicans are supporting her because of what she stands for. But I've heard her on Lago letting them know she is a Democrat and won't switch over. She is definately strong. Because she is out there full force in the democratic primary, James will be at a serious disadvantage because people are lining up behind her and her courage. She did the hard work getting rid of Hunter and now facing the political powerbrokers and low low low tactics, and she is gaining the respect and showing people she is capable beyond her years of experience.

Angelica had an out-of-state theft charge a few years ago, but I don't think it's anything that James Sales could make into a make-or-break campaign issue; voters understand that a judicial candidate will have made mistakes in their past. I think the more recent ethics breach of deliberately hiding a key witness in a federal court case is a more dangerous campaign issue because Jan Jack is very happy to tell the story to anyone who asks.

lapolitica5 said...

To Jaime and Relampago,
What does it matter record or no record on Angelica's part. The voter will decide and guess what some may have had records as well I really don't think the voters in Nueces county care about that because they cannot vote anyhow.
And not everyone is reading all this information you two are bringing up all the time.
And James is nice however most of nueces county votes Democratic.

I am on the side of truth and integrity.

I have issues with witnesses being hid or hiding as well.

WATT about her association with Gardner & Lago?

The public needs to be informed on these kinds of things.

Then they can make an informed educated choice.

If I had a criminal record I know everybody would be making a big deal about it.

I did not think one can possess a law degree with a criminal record.

Hell it hard to even get a JOB if you have a criminal record.

For what it's worth, I'll vote for, and campaign for, Angelica (or Bobby) against James Sales. If the November election against Sales is about who is the most likeable and who's the better campaigner, I think Angelica is best to beat Sales. But if the election is about experience and "clean hands" and passing the bar exam on the first chance right after law school, I think Bobby might match up slightly better against Sales. There is no question Angelica is the most likeable and hardest campaigner of all three candidates. I like Angelica but I can't turn around without hearing another thing that makes me worry about her chances in November against Sales.

By the way, I completely agree that Angelica's theft conviction will be a non-issue and I said so. My concern about the federal court ethics violation is a result of watching the Caller Times tear down Judge Huerta and Judge DePena for much less. In Judge DePena's case the cost was not so great because Judge Gonzalez is also a great judge who shares the community's vaules, but when Judge Greenwell beat Marty Huerta, we got a judge who favors big corporate interests over common ordinary people and don't want to see that happen again.

Angelica's alleged theft (Criminal Record will be an issue.

There is no way a convicted criminal can be my JUDGE!

You must be in la la land if you think any with a criminal record (that I am aware of) will ever sit on a bench.

Marion Berry has survived but his electoral position has nothing to do with the judiciary.

It wont happen.

But first I must ask around until I find the facts of the conviction.

Maybe she was wrongfully convicted like my wife.

WATT are the facts?

ANGELICA we are not in KANSAS any more.

And that stuff about Vela and Hinojosa I call your bluff.

Put up or shut up.

If this is not a form of prevarication then by all means lets get it out in the open.

Anybody??????

It is wrong for our JUDICIARY to be extorted POLITICALLY and FINANCIALLY. We must interdict the buying of influence in our JUDICIARY.

Is there a can of WORMS to open in the 13th COA?

I got a light to shine on em when ther emerge.

You are trying to smear a sitting JUSTICE on the Texas Appelate court (13th COA).

I wrote this a few months back about James Sales.

Also correct me if I am wrong; I thought 52% of Nueces County voted for BUSH and 53% voted for Solomon Ortiz.

Do you think some of the ones who voted for Solomon voted for BUSH?

STRAIGHT ticket voting is ABSURD!

Go ahead pull that lever.

At least read down the list, maybe read up on the other side if for nothing else than for weak spots.

Do anything but pull the lever.

It matters not dem or rep most of these guys are not in touch with their voters they are ELITIST and YOU are only important every now and then for the pulling of the lever.

Go through the motions.

That vote you are casting is like money you are spending.

Do you just throw money away?

Hello Mr Sales,
Remember me I spoke with You this morning. As we spoke I mentioned the upcoming election and asked if you were running for County Judge. I knew you were thinking about running against Hunter for the 94th District republican Nomination, but figured I would inject a small dosage of the County Judge Rhetoric.

JAMES SALES, WHO ARE YOU?

Well you attended & graduated from Ray High School and went on to some college somewhere and then went to Law School and grabbed your Doctorate of Jurisprudence. YEAH YEAH YEAH! All of that is fine and dandy but WHO ARE YOU JAMES SALES?

You are an ASSHOLE to those who murder!

You are feared and hated by these Birds of the Feather! Your life is on the line for the JOB well done. I ask our Lord to watch over you & yours forever & ever!

You are an ASSHOLE to those who conduct organized crime!

So you are feared once again, by those who fear none!

What good has it done?

Well we are in November 2005 and there have been so far only 8 Murders; in 2004 there were ~26 Murders. Now when a whim to kill or retaliate violently presents itself; these "would be murderers" know there will be serious consequences! God Bless You and may God watch over us here in the Body of Christ.

This one thing allows me to support your Ascension to the 94th District. You have quashed the violence. I must tip my Hat to Sandra Watts in this endeavor as well with her rehab programs of genuine concern and social research.

Let us start now and get past Hunter, then we can compare you to the Democratic Choice.

YOU NEED TO MAKE A BIG ENTRANCE NOW! THE SOONER THE BETTER YOUR CHANCES!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN WORKING WITH US PLEASE CONTACT HOMER @ EL DEFENZOR 36 387 6216 or you can email me! It will be an honor to work with you! Dont worry about differences; as they can always be resolved in dialog. Remember one thing about South Texas Politics as you probably already know; Homer & El Defenzor Political Publication knows how they work here in South Texas.
I know you are not representative of an Elitist or Anglo Agenda as you have explained; "it is not the culture but there are bad apples in every walk of life". Your Family includes hispanic members as like me, your wife is hispanic as are your children.

May God watch over you and protect you & your's James Sales.

As I posted above, I don't have access to Texas court opinions on line, but I spoke to a friend who's a lawyer and he said all you have to do is search for “opinion by Justice Hinojosa” with Filemon B. Vela as the attorney you come right to a 6 year old case where Hinojosa tried to turn the law on its head (that's what the other judge working on the case says in the opinion) and when Hinojosa couldn't get the other judge to go along, the case just vanished onto the back shelves of Hinojosa's office and no one's heard a thing about it since then. That sounds crooked to me. I have never heard of a court just sitting on a case for 6 years! And you think it's a coincidence that Fil Vela was the lawyer and Hinojosa was the judge and now Rose Vela is running against Hinojosa?

I tried to find the name of the case with Google, but Google doesn't have court opinions. But I did find a anti-judicial-corruption website called "Lawyers Keep Texas Appeals Judges on Retainer" which discusses where Hinojosa tried to throw a case named "L & F Distributor v. Amador G. Cruz" in exchange for cash from a corporate campaign supporter:

"Spring break was no party for Amador Cruz. The beer warehouse where he worked forced him to work long weekend hours to keep college kids lubed on Padre Island. When he complained about forced overtime, L & F Distributors fired him. Cruz filed suit, seeking overtime pay and damages for retalitory discrimination. A jury ruled in Cruz’s favor on both points, but the trial judge rendered a take-nothing judgment on the overtime award.

Thirteenth Court of Appeals justices reversed the trial court in December 1996, vacating the retaliation judgment but reinstating Cruz’s overtime award. Justice Federico Hinojosa’s dissenting opinion would have rendered a take-nothing judgment on both of Cruz’s claims. Three years later, L & F President Joe La Mantia poured $5,000 into Justice Hinojosa’s campaign."

See for yourself

===================================
Texans for Lawsuit Reform: How the Texas Tort Tycoons Spent Millions in the 2000 Elections
Summary
printer friendly

The PAC of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR) raised $1.5 million and spent $1.4 million in the 2000 election cycle, making it Texas' fifth-largest PAC.

Just five wealthy families that made fortunes in litigious industries supplied almost half of the money that TLR raised. Moreover, TLR got 80 percent of its money from the families of just 24 tycoons. Altogether, these 24 king makers spent $4.5 million to influence Texas politics in the 2000 cycle, with Houston homebuilder Bob Perry spending an astounding $912,500.

Republicans received 92 percent of all the money that TLR spent. Just two GOP senate candidates (Todd Staples and Bob Deuell) received 73 percent of TLR's money. New Senator Todd Staples got almost half of his TLR money in the last week of the campaign, thereby hiding the extent of his dependence on this special-interest group until after the election.

Continue with your rationale Relampago

if Rose Vela is running against Hinojosa cuz Hionjosa screwed her husband.......

WATT would Mikal have done if Hinojosa tried to stonewall him as he did Fil?

Why couldnt Fil file a mandamus or some type of motion or appeal to the higher court.

Numbers give ME the numbers.

Please continue with this theory?

Relampago said...

You ask what "would Mikal have done if Hinojosa tried to stonewall him as he did Fil?"

Read the Texans For Public Justice article carefully, and you'll have your answer. The "Lawyers Keep Texas Appeals Judges on Retainer" section of the study shows that Watts keeps Hinojosa "on retainer" giving him over $30,000.

That's the point of the TPJ analysis: Hinojosa would never stonewall Watts like he's stonewalling Fil because Hinojosa treats big campaign contributors better than common people.

Let's set the record straight because everything you are talking about is a matter of public record. First, Angelica was arrested over ten years ago, when she was a teenager, in college in Kansas.
The charges were DISMISSED!!! She fully disclosed it to the Texas Board of Law Examiners and they let her get her license because she disclosed fully and the charges were dismissed. The issue with Mary Ochoa, several years ago, involved the County Attorney's office or Sheriff's Department's concealment in a case that was handled by the County Attorney's office, not Angelica. She was hired after the witness came forward (about five years after the fact)and she was involved in the defense of the County because it was alleged that the County Attorney's office concealed her identity back in the late 19990's during the
Sokolinski case. There has never been a complaint against Ms. Hernandez for anything. Go to the sanction hearing information online with the Caller Times and get it straight. Arrest - over a decade ago and charges dismissed. Concealment by Nueces County with Ms. Hernandez defending against the concealment charges several years after the fact. The record will show that the witness who confirmed Ms. Ochoa's story (Sylvia Meru) said on the record and under oath that Ms. Hernandez told her tell the truth on the stand no matter what, even if it would hurt the county. She did just that. Ms. Hernandez does not have a conviction. Besides, I would rather face someone as a judge who made mistakes and overcame them, never hid them or tried to make herself out to be perfect. She overcame her arrest when she was a kid to finish college and go on to law school. So she didn't pass her bar exam the first time out, at least she didn't quit. She continued and has had a very sucessful career. If you want a perfect person to be Judge, then Jesus better come take a bench! If anyone wants to know the story just call her and ask or email her. She has been very honest about all this and has never tried to hide any of it. She went on the Lago show and met Lago and Gardner for the first time on the radio. They respected her willingness to put the truth out there. I looked at her campaign list and neither Lago or Gardner have given her any money. They just liked her courage to talk about the ad litem fees and the favortism in the court. I like that too.

"Let's set the record straight because everything you are talking about is a matter of public record. First, Angelica was arrested over ten years ago, when she was a teenager, in college in Kansas."

WATT WAS SHE ARRESTED FOR?

"The charges were DISMISSED!!!"

WAS THERE AN AGREEMENT?

PROBATION?

COMMUNITY SERVICE?

"She fully disclosed it to the Texas Board of Law Examiners and they let her get her license because she disclosed fully and the charges were dismissed."

THEN SHE BRINGS SCRUTINY TO THIS BOARD OF LAW EXAMINERS.

FULLY DISCLOSE?

THIS IS THE 21ST CENTURY; WATT IS NOT DISCLOSED IS DISCOVERED.

"The issue with Mary Ochoa, several years ago, involved the County Attorney's office or Sheriff's Department's concealment in a case that was handled by the County Attorney's office, not Angelica. She was hired after the witness came forward (about five years after the fact)and she was involved in the defense of the County because it was alleged that the County Attorney's office concealed her identity back in the late 19990's during the

ALL OF THE ABOVE ONLY BRINGS SCRUTINY ON THE COUNTY HIRING A CRIMINAL?

Arrest - over a decade ago and charges dismissed.

DOES IT REMAIN ON HER RECORD?

DISMISSED IS NOT SYNONYMOUS WITH INNOCENT

"Concealment by Nueces County with Ms. They just liked her courage to talk about the ad litem fees and the favortism in the court. I like that too."

SO NOW, SHE IS THE NEXT BEST THING TO JESUS?

AND ANGELICA CAN EMAIL ME IF SHE WOULD LIKE ME TO HEAR HER SIDE.
